Come Walk With Me is a spiritual self-help book that offers readers a powerful way to assist those who are going through crises that often include serious illness and death. The book describes a process I developed to help my family members, particularly my mother and her aging siblings, find peace in their last months and years. In addition to our family stories, the book includes the stories of several other individuals (and animals!) who were in the throes of death or experiencing other crises – seventeen stories in all – as illustration for readers who would like to implement the process themselves. Also included is an outline of the process I created, as a simple step-by-step guide.
I have continued to “walk” throughout my life, especially when I missed someone I loved or had a misunderstanding and wanted to clear it up immediately. Most walks involved meeting with family members who were no longer in their physical bodies. On some of the walks, I reunited with friends and other loved ones who had crossed over after death, or there was unfinished business they and I needed to complete. Others were with my pets or those belonging to a friend. Many of the people and animals in my stories have now passed on; others knew they were dying and were frightened because they did not know what to expect. Several other people have more recently initiated walks with their loved ones after learning how to use this process.
I have come to understand how the grief we carry based on losses and misunderstandings affects our relationships. In all cases, my purpose in taking the walks was to assist others – and myself – in healing our relationships. I have kept journals of the walks, which I share now in the spirit of supporting others on their path to creating more loving and compassionate relationships and to healing anything that is unlike love.
Come Walk With Me includes my perceptions of how my walks have affected my family, mostly my mother’s family of origin. Some of the memories are from third-party perceptions that I relate here in my own words and include my interpretation of what took place. In no way are they intended to speak for others, as each person has his or her own memories and interpretations. The most important aspect of the interactions with others has been honest communication and loving expression about particular events to provide clarity and understanding.
Come Walk with Me opened me up to look at illness and death from a new perspective. The author shared specific ideas that I used to help me when my mother made her transition to the non-physical. What a gift to be with a loved one and witness this beautiful transition! It also helped to alleviate my fears about leaving my body at the end of this life. Knowing there are angels, deceased family -members, and loved ones who come to us at this sacred time brings me great joy and peace. Ms. Eatherly shares her vast experience in a well-written, easy to follow format. I highly recommend it!
Barbara Eatherly shares a journey that is grounded and vividly personal. To read her refreshing and disarming story is like visiting with a friend over tea. She reveals valuable techniques to connect you with your loved ones who have passed to the other side or are going through trauma anywhere. I could not put it down!
I greatly admire that the author opened up some very personal parts of her life in order to help others who are looking for peace in past familial relationships. Working with Hospice and end of life for more than 25+ years, I firmly believe there is way more than we can see and hear. Ms. Eatherly is brave to explore it and tell her story.
As I read Come Walk with Me, I felt a sense of hope. I would love to see and communicate with those who went before me and now I feel there is a way.
